United head into Tuesday night’s game against play-off chasing AFC Fylde without Elliott Romain and Rhys Healey.

Both players were sent off in Saturday’s 1-0 defeat to Dover Athletic, and despite an appeal in an attempt to rescind Romain’s straight red card, both players will be sitting out the visit of the Coasters.

TUFC head coach Gary Owers has been quick to move on from Saturday’s game. United’s focus needs to be on the task in hand which is to win enough points to survive with five games to play.

“We’re playing against the in-form team – free-scoring,” said Owers of the Coasters. “We know the predicament that we’re in and we need to get as many points as possible which means trying to win as many of the remaining games.

“The team’s played alright. We’ll continue with the level of performance and now we have to score some goals to win the game, obviously.”

United are in 22nd place in the National League having played 41 games and claimed 37 points. After Saturday’s round of results Barrow slipped into the bottom four suffering a 4-1 defeat at the hands of Leyton Orient. Solihull Moors took their place after a 1-0 win over in-form Hartlepool United. Chester FC were relegated on Saturday after losing 2-0 to Tranmere. Guiseley picked up a point at home to Maidstone.

The Yellow Army will play their part on Tuesday night. Everything we can do to get behind the team will be important. The Gaffer has been thankful for the support the team has been getting home and away.

“They’ve supported the team through thick and thin. The away support recently has been magnificent. The atmosphere at the home game against Woking was excellent. Mid-week games the atmosphere always seems to be a bit better for some reason, so we’re looking forward to that.”

AFC Fylde come into Tuesday’s game on the back of three straight wins including a 2-1 win over Sutton United on Saturday. They currently sit in 7th place in the National League and in the final play-off spot. Striker Danny Rowe leads the scoring chart in the National League after notching 28 goals so far this season. Johnny Smith and Jack Muldoon have provided goals too with 10 and 9 goals respectively.

United will be without Rhys Healey and Elliott Romain through suspension. Reece Mitchell will miss out due to illness. Goalkeeper Vincent Dorel will hopefully be in contention for a place in the match day squad after recovering from an injury picked up against Woking. Jakub Sokolik is available for selection after rejoining training.
