United look to capitalize on four points from their last two games with a trip to Maidenhead United on Saturday.
Much has been made of Maidenhead’s home form, and it has contributed to a fine campaign for the Magpies so far.
“It’ll be a tough game, they’ve done excellent,” said Gary Owers at his weekly press call. The Gaffer watched the Magpies earlier this week when they were away to Stockport County in the FA Trophy.
“They’re competitive and they’ve got some pretty solid characters in their ranks. When you go to Maidenhead you have to deal with the environment as well so we will have to make sure that we’re ready for that. We’re going there off the back of two good results and hopefully going there to pick up some more points.
“We have to get to a level and we have to match the levels of Maidenhead pretty quickly in the game and if we can perform like we have done then I’m really confident that we get something.”
United have to hope that the confidence that the players have gained from their last two performances leads to another resolute and effective display.
“We’re trying to keep them [the first team] focused. We’re certainly going to try and pull it all together like we do [on] Thursday/Friday. [It is] maintenance early part of the week and a little bit of focus on the game.”
United have entered a relatively stable and settled period regarding player ins and outs. The Gaffer is still looking for players, but the parameters have narrowed on who he might bring in.
“Nothing at the moment. I’ve got six loans which has meant I have had to omit one of those loan players in the last three games which hasn’t been a nice thing to do. That’s where we’re at.There was quite a bit of activity in January and I’m just trying to settle things down now. The phone’s still ringing and I’m still watching and it has just got to be the right person.”
Goalkeeper Ryan Clarke is still unavailable through injury and Myles Anderson left the Club earlier this week. Ryan Higgins is absent from the Club on personal grounds.
The Yellow Army face a shorter trip to what they have been used to over the last few months. Your support on the day will be vital if the team are to continue the fight to stay in the National League.
