United take on Swansea City’s U23s at Plainmoor tomorrow, fresh from extending their 100% pre-season record with 1-0 win at Tiverton Town on Saturday.
City’s youngsters were also in action on Saturday, with The Swans coming away from Carmarthen Town with a 1-1 draw, following defeats against Merthyr Town and Chelsea’s development side.
Although the Under-23 side endured a difficult season in Premier League Division 1, finishing bottom, the team made good progress were made in the cup competitions, with victories over League One sides AFC Wimbledon and Charlton in the Checkatrade Trophy, as well as progressing to the Premier League Cup semi-finals for the third year running.
The Welsh side will provide Gary Johnson’s team with another stern test, in what is his side’s penultimate pre-season fixture before the action starts for real on August 3rd.
