Torquay United’s campaign to raise funds for a new public defibrillator at Plainmoor continues, with the local community continuing to unite together for this worthy cause.
A cardiac arrest can affect anyone at any time – whether you’re at home, work, or out in public – and with public defibrillators often proving to be the difference between life and death, finding one as quickly as possible is vitally important to help save someone’s life.
Having a defibrillator located outside the stadium will not only be of benefit to those attending matches at Plainmoor, but also the local community.
Gulls boss Gary Johnson was only to happy to lend his support to the cause, both through his own vocal backing, and also by attending the Club’s pre-season Community Fun Day alongside his first-team squad.
“Once again, the Club have come up with a great initiative,” said the Gaffer.
“Everywhere needs a defibrillator – I’m an expert on heart stuff! It’s a fantastic cause, and it’s great to involve the community again. The more times we can involve the community, the more we enjoy it.”
Following on from the hugely successful Fun Day held outside Boots & Laces, an Aldershot Match Sponsorship Prize Draw was held, with Jenny Attwood and Friends revealed at our last home match as the winner.
Donations towards the public defibrillator fund are still being accepted, with collection buckets located in the Club Shop throughout the week and also at Reception and Bars around the stadium on matchdays.
TUAFC would like to place on record its thanks to everyone that has supported this campaign so far, with the generosity and hard work of all involved not only showing community spirit at its best, but also underlining that when the community unites together, anything is possible!
