There was a good turn out as Retro Gulls returned last Friday, in our latest event aimed at the over 50’s.

The event was hosted by Media Assistant Ian Brown, with Torquay United’s new Head of Youth and former player and Assistant Manager Robbie Herrera first up with a Q & A session, which was followed by a quiz and rounded off with a visit and talk from Annette Soloman from We Are Family who are the foster care team from Torbay Council.

It was Robbie Herrera stepping up first as he took to the floor to face questions about his career and his time here at Plainmoor. Robbie told the Retro Gulls about his good times at here Torquay United in his various roles over the years, as well as his time at Q.P.R & Fulham.

Next up was the 15 question quiz which had the turn out thinking hard about their answers and there were lots of correct ones given, which led to a close run contest, with the eventual winners scoring a creditable 10 points.

The event was rounded off when Annette Soloman from We Are Family gave a very inciteful talk about the work that Torbay Council do with foster care in the community, and took questions from the floor about how people can get involved.

TUAFC would like to thank our guests and supporters for turning up to the event and we invite our Retro Gulls to our last event of the season which will take place in Boots & Laces on Thursday 25th August from 2pm – 4pm. We look forward to seeing you all in attendance.

About Retro Gulls

With the health and wellbeing in residents aged 50 and over widely recognised as another important aspect of community care within Torbay, supporters aged 50 and over will be invited to attend events in Boots & Laces once a month, with United stars present and past due to be in attendance for each meeting.

The Club will be focused on all things Torquay United, and will provide the opportunity to get Torquay talking. These events will give our ‘Retro Gulls’ the chance to discuss the current team, and those of yesteryear, with both fellow supporters and United stars past and present.

The events will vary each month, with future activities set to include fitness sessions, skittles, programme swap-shops, quizzes, bingo, workshops and much more!

The next Retro Gulls event is set to take place on Thursday 25th August from 2pm-4pm.

Retro Gulls events are provided by the Club free of charge for all United supporters aged 50 or over. Although booking is not essential, to reserve your space, please email [email protected] or phone 01803 328666 (Monday-Friday 10am-2pm)
