An appeal by the Club to rescind the red card that Elliott Romain received on Saturday against Dover Athletic has failed.

The Club provided video of the challenge made by Romain to win the ball to the FA, but the appeal was stopped on the grounds that there was insufficient evidence to prove it was a wrongful dismissal.

“Disappointed with the outcome, disappointed with the reasoning, really,” said TUFC head coach Gary Owers after learning of the decision.

“We’ve provided the official match day footage. I don’t know what else we’re supposed to provide, we can’t provide anything else. Me looking at it as someone who played football, there’s no way that that deserves a red card but obviously other people have seen it differently. We just have to get on with it.”

Rhys Healey also received a red card on Saturday after receiving two yellow cards. Again, the Club believes that those should be reviewed but FA rules dictate that sending offs by two yellow cards cannot be reviewed. United will now be without Elliott Romain for three games, and Rhys Healey for one.

“It’s now up to the other lads that come into the team to make up for the loss of losing two quality players,” added Owers.
