Torquay United AFC is pleased to announce the signing of Forest Green midfielder Lloyd James on loan.
Former Wales U21 international James, 31, began his career at Southampton, before going on to amass over 300 league appearances in the Football League for a number of clubs including Colchester, Leyton Orient and Exeter City, prior to joining Rovers in 2018.
Manager Gary Johnson is understandably delighted to have brought a player of Lloyd’s calibre and experience to Plainmoor.
“We are pleased to announce that we have signed Lloyd James, he comes with great experience,” said Johnson.
“A few things had to fall into place, and fortunately they have with Lloyd. I felt we needed some more experience in our team at the moment.
“There is no-one with more experience than Lloyd as far as his footballing CV is concerned. He is a battling midfielder with a definite eye for a pass, and of course the ‘old head’ is as important as anything else at this time.
“At this moment in time it is a short-term loan, and we will see how it develops in the future.”
The player himself is eager to get down to business at Plainmoor.
“I am delighted to come to Torquay,” said James.
“Hopefully I can play a few games and help get the winning feeling back. I’ll be bringing some experience for the younger lads. I like to get on the ball, and get the team ticking.”
Welcome to Plainmoor, Lloyd!
