Torquay United Football Club is pleased to confirm the signing of goalkeeper Lucas Covolan Cavagnari.
Cavagnari, 27, is a former Brazil U20 international and joined giants Vasco Da Gama as a youngster. He counts Atletico Paranaense, Bento Goncalves (loan), Toledo, Rio Branco and Union Deportivo Alaro among his former clubs in Brazil. After coming to England he joined Whitehawk and Lewes before moving to his most recent club, Worthing.
“First of all he’s a very good goalkeeper,” said TUFC manager Gary Johnson of our new signing. “It’s very important in next season’s National League to have two goalkeepers that will be competing for a place.
“During the season we got permission from his club Worthing to have a look at him over a few days and we liked what we saw.
“He’s Brazilian and came over to find his way in the English leagues. If you’re from Brazil then Torquay’s probably the place to go next! We appreciate the work of James Garley of Achieve Management who is Lucas’ representative in England.
“I believe he can definitely make his way in the game up the league ladder. We’re very pleased to have signed him.”
