Torquay United Football Club is pleased to confirm the loan signing of Cheltenham central defender, Alex Davey.
Davey (22) joins from the Robins on loan until the beginning of January, having impressed Torquay United head coach Gary Owers in a recent friendly.
Alex spent his youth career with Chelsea before loan moves to Scunthorpe United, Peterborough United, Stabæk, and Crawley Town.
“We’re going to bring Alex in until January. A centre-half but also a holding midfield player,” said Torquay United head coach, Gary Owers.
“At 6’3, I think we could be missing a little bit of a physical presence in certain areas of the pitch so hopefully he will do well for us.”
Owers has seen Alex play on numerous occasions.
“I’ve seen him play over the years, most recently he played up at Cheltenham last week against us, and done well. I’d seen him play the week before against Newport in the Checkatrade, so I have seen him two or three times this year and a couple of times in the last couple of years. [He’s] formally of Chelsea and a couple of loans in the League so he has a good pedigree.
“The important thing with all of these players is that he wanted to come and play, and help, which is very important in our situation.”
Davey will wear the number 21 shirt and is available for United’s match against Sutton United (21/11/17).
