Torquay United is pleased to confirm the signing of defender, George Essuman.

Essuman, 21, spent his youth career with Norwich City, West Ham United and Sheffield Wednesday. Spells at Maldon & Tiptree United, Grays Athletic, and VCD Athletic followed before Dover Athletic moved for him in March 2017. He then spent time on loan at Margate FC.

“He’s a big, strong, athletic defender,” said TUFC head coach, Gary Owers. “He’ll compete for a position at centre-half, or even as a holding midfield player.

“He’s someone who I think we can improve. I think he has got a lot of potential; I look forward to working with him.

“I want a balanced squad; I want competition in all areas of the pitch. I won’t be going in with just young players; I’m looking for experience. I’m talking to one or two experienced players at the minute.”
