Torquay United is pleased to confirm the signing of free agent Kalvin Lumbombo-Kalala.
Kalvin, 20, follows Johnson from his former club Cheltenham Town where he signed after being spotted by head of recruitment Pete Johnson.
“We worked very hard to get him over from France to Cheltenham,” said Johnson. “He’s a very good player on the ball; he’s one of those players that is difficult to get the ball from. He’ll fit in with us very nicely.”
Kalvin has spent his early career in Italy, playing for Jolly Montemurlo, Carpi, and a loan spell at Savona.
“He has a fellow Frenchman to talk to in Jean Niate. He’s been here a couple of days already, so I think he is comfortable and ready to show the Torquay fans what he can do.”
“I want to give my best for the fans, the manager, everyone,” said Kalvin at Plainmoor on Thursday. “I’m coming because Gary Johnson is here and he gave me the chance to play in England.
“I need to give my best on Saturday because it is my first impression to the fans.”
Lumbombo-Kalala goes straight into the squad for Saturday’s match against Eastbourne Borough.
