Torquay United Football Club is pleased to announce that midfielder Jake Andrews and winger Opi Edwards have joined the Club on loan.
Both players join from Championship side Bristol City on initial one-month loan deals.
Jake Andrews, 20, is an attacking player that can play coming in from the left or as a no.10. He has spent time on loan Chippenham scoring five goals in twenty-two games from midfield. He then joined League Two side Cheltenham Town where he made five appearances scoring one goal.
Opi Edwards, 19, made his Bristol City debut in an FA Cup match against Watford. He’s also spent time on loan with Bath City at National League South level making eight appearances and scoring once.
“They are two lads that I know very well,” said TUFC head coach Gary Owers before training today. “They played against us in pre-season and scored some goals and were excellent on the night.
“Opi played against us in pre-season – scored some goals and was excellent on the night. Brings lots of energy and lots of pace; he’ll be really exciting. I look forward to seeing him play.
“Jake Andrews brings with him that bit of quality. He scored against us; supporters might remember the free-kick over the wall into the top corner. He’s capable of that and hopefully he can provide that bit of guild in the final third that we have been looking for.”
Both players got on the scoresheet in Bristol City’s 3-1 pre-season win at Plainmoor. You can watch the goals below.
