Torquay United AFC is delighted to announce that midfielder Stephen Wearne has returned to the Club on loan from Grimsby Town.
Already a favourite with the Yellow Army, Wearne made 17 appearances, scoring 3 goals, during a similar stint from Sunderland last season, and after making ten appearances in the EFL since his summer move to Grimsby, manager Gary Johnson is understandably pleased to see the player back at Plainmoor.
“I’m obviously delighted to get Stephen Wearne back on a short-term loan,” said the Gaffer.
“He showed us last season his capabilities, he also knows our game and our mentality, so it won’t take him long to get straight into our ethic.”
The player himself, meanwhile, is clearly eager to pick up where he left off last term.
“I’m happy, and it’s a good opportunity for me, I think, to play some games and obviously help the team hopefully push up the table a little bit,” said Stephen.
“I’m really happy to be back and see some old faces again. I’m looking forward to seeing the fans again, and hopefully we can give them something to cheer about tonight.”
