Torquay United are pleased to announce the signing of Momodou Touray on a one-month loan from League Two side Newport County.

Touray made his debut for Newport against Carlisle in the final game of 2017/18, before spending last season with Barry Town United in the Cymru Premier.

Mamodou made a big impact at Jenner Park, with his 13 goals in 31 league appearances not only helping to secure Barry’s qualification for the Europa League, but also earning himself a call-up to the Wales U21 squad.

Manager Gary Johnson was delighted to strengthen his attacking options with the signing of the promising forward.

“He played in one of our pre-season friendlies not so long ago and he was recommended to me by a player that used to play for me as a centre-forward,” revealed Johnson.

“He said he might become available, he might not, so we had a chance to have a look at him a couple of times and he looks to have a lot of potential.

“He’s only just 20,  he was 20 two days ago, he comes from Gambia, the same as Saiks [former loan forward Saikou Janneh], he knows Saiks quite well and he reminds me of Saiks, he’s got that quality of keeping hold of the ball, he works hard and if at the end of the month, he’s enjoyed and we’ve enjoyed it then that’s another great addition to our squad as a striker.”

We’ll be uploading an interview with Momodou to Official TUFC TV soon.

The move is subject to clearance from the FA.
