Supporter Update

With Thursday marking the third week since Torquay United served its intention to appoint administrators, the Club would like to provide the Yellow Army with an update regarding the current situation.

Thank you

The Club would like to once again extend its sincere thanks to the Yellow Army, and wider footballing family for their continued support. Whether partaking in one of our recent fundraising initiatives, making a donation, attending a match, buying a scarf, or even enjoying a drink in Boots & Laces, your contribution is hugely appreciated by everyone at Plainmoor, and is helping keep YOUR club alive.

Following a week in which United received a sizeable donation from one of our National League South rivals in Weymouth, we can now confirm that our total donations received is an amazing £19,248.65.

Your continued generosity towards maintaining professional football at Plainmoor continues to be hugely appreciated, and only goes to show how important this Football Club is to so many people.

Thank you all so much.

How are things progressing?

Following the announcement of the Club’s intention to enter administration, Torquay United was officially put up for sale on Friday 23rd February, and last week Torquay United confirmed that the interim moratorium had been extended for a further 10 working days.

Everyone at Plainmoor remains determined to secure a bright and sustainable future for Torquay United, and the Club and its representatives are in constant dialogue with the National League, and prospective new owners regards a deal structure, with the TUFC recently extending its notice period of appointing an administrator for a further ten days.

The Club is continuing its discussions with various interested parties, if you, or someone you know, is interested in investing in the Club, then please get in touch immediately by emailing [email protected].

As announced earlier today, Torquay United has now been informed by the National League that in accordance with Membership Rule 13A – Sporting Sanctions, TUFC has immediately been deducted 10 points for incurring an Insolvency Event. This also results in the Club being placed under a Player Embargo.

With this in mind, and with just three home games remaining, we cannot emphasise enough how important your support will be – on and off the field – during the closing weeks of the campaign, and it would be a huge boost for the players, management, staff and fellow supporters to see the stadium packed out for our matches against Hampton & Richmond, Weston-super-Mare and Havant & Waterlooville.

How can I help, and where is the money going?

Following the update of donations now hitting near £20,000, donations continue to be gratefully received via the link HERE. Supporters can be assured that all money being paid into the Club – be it via tickets, purchases or donations will ONLY be used to ensure the Club’s essential operating costs are met – in effect, to help Torquay United continue functioning as a professional Football Club, and fulfilling its fixtures. Your money will NOT be used in any other way.

With so much goodwill being shown by so many people, the Club wishes to clarify that only by paying donations directly into our designated PayPal account, can supporters be guaranteed that these funds will be used to ensure Torquay United continues to function during this uncertain period.

In the meantime, supporters with any queries can continue to email [email protected], meanwhile our Frequently Asked Questions page with questions raised by supporters will continue to be frequently updated, the FAQ page can be found HERE.

Once again, thank you, Yellow Army.
