TORQUAY United would like to introduce a brand new match-day opportunity for someone to work independently from the football club as a voluntary Supporters’ Liaison Officer (SLO).
The concept has arisen from discussions between the club and TUST (Torquay United Supporters’ Trust), as we both feel there is a need for a consistent dialogue between the club and supporters.
There will be no set brief for the SLO and their team, as we would like more than one representative to work with supporters, with the remit of feeding back information to the club on how we can improve the match-day experience for everybody.
As a club, we are very pleased to be working closely with TUST and it is intended for there to also be significant input from TUOSC (Torquay United Official Supporters Club). The initiative stems from National League recommendations and is mirrored in the EFL, where clubs are obligated to display a structured dialogue between supporter and club.
While we are advertising the role of SLO through club channels, as this is the logical means of making people aware of the initiative, there is no intention to control responses or the approach of the SLO.
All nominees for the position will be interviewed independently by a panel including representatives from TUST and TUOSC.
