TUAFC is grateful for the support of many Sponsors who support the Club season in, season out. The Cary Arms is a longstanding local sponsor and the Club would like to place on record its thanks to them.
The Cary Arms opened at Easter 2009. Owned by the De Savary family and run by Rob Allen and his local team of staff, the family have been hospitality entrepreneurs for over 40 years and own six hotels across the South West.
The award-winning boutique hotel, restaurant and spa overlooks the picturesque Babbacombe Bay.
Speaking of the Cary Arms partnership with Torquay United, owner Ian Solkin said:
“The Cary Arms is delighted to once again partner with Torquay United for this season, we’ve done it now for many years. Torquay [United] are really important to the local area and we’re a keen user of local services and we have all local staff here and it’s just a great tie up and we want to see Torquay do well, just as we want to see Babbacombe and the Bay do well – so it just makes a lot of sense for us to support the Club.”
The Cary Arms has also sponsored the production of 3000 ‘clappers’ which will be issued to supporters in the Woollens Terrace at United’s upcoming Community Day’s. The Cary Arms were in attendance at the Club’s first Community Day on 23rd October and speaking of TUAFC’s Community Day initiative, Ian said:
“With regards to the community idea, it’s a great idea. It was great to see the [Woollens] stand full with youngsters all standing there, it was a really good match so I’m sure they’ll go away with really happy memories and when you’re six, seven, eight, or nine, that’s how you get into football, by those sorts of memories, so hopefully you get a feel for Torquay and come back.
“Being able to support in what ever way, the community idea is just great and we look forward to seeing how that goes over the season.”
