The award winning boutique hotel, restaurant and spa overlooks the picturesque Babbacombe Bay, and was opened in 2009. Speaking of the Cary Arms’ partnership with Torquay United, owner Ian Solkin said:
“The Cary Arms is quite an old historic place that opened during the 1930’s, as an Inn & a small boutique hotel. We bought it in 2009 and it is tucked down a hill here in Babbacombe overlooking the sea, with a 40 square mile view right through to Portland Bill. It is just a really nice location here down the hillside and next to the beach.”
“Our partnership with the Club goes back a number of years to the Paul Buckle & Chris Hargreaves days, when my son was quite young and I got to know Chris a little bit, so I’ve been following Torquay since those days really and been a season ticket holder for many years. With opening the Cary Arms and with what we have done down here, we have always supported the club and tried to be a good sponsor and do whatever we can, I think it’s important that Torquay United survives, does well and prospers and is a great community asset.”
Earlier this week, United players Asa Hall & Shaun Donnellan paid a trip to the Cary Arms, providing an ideal opportunity for both players and sponsor to get to know each other a bit better.
“It’s been great to have Asa & Shaun here visiting and to see them away from the football,” said Ian.
“We have had a nice chat about football things and got to know them a bit better, and just generally see a different side to them to what we see on the pitch. Obviously we’ve all known Asa for a long time and it has been really good to have them both come down today.”
