Torquay United AFC would like to thank Richard Brown & Martin Musgrove for sponsoring tomorrow’s game v Bath City.
Martin is the son of Ex Torquay manager Malcolm Musgrove and not surprisingly growing up in Torquay at that time has become a lifelong Torquay fan. Richard’s first game was on the 13th November 1971 when we beat Blackburn Rovers 3-1 in what was then the old Third Division. Then as a 13 year old boy he wrote to Malcolm Musgrove asking for the opportunity to bring his scrap book along to have it signed by the players. He was delighted to receive a hand written letter from Malcolm in response, inviting him to come along to a training session and meet the players, which he duly did.
Many years later Martin and Richard met through a mutual friend and have shared their passion for Torquay attending many games together both home and away. Also, in a lovely twist of fate, Martin was able to share with his Father the many memories created by the very same scrap book that Malcom had signed for Richard all those years earlier.
Martin himself has also graced the hallowed Plainmoor turf turning out for both the first team and reserves. He also went on to play at Minehead along with Torquay legends such as Willie Brown (who was player manager) Clint Boulton, Terry Lee and Peter Darke.
Martin is joined today by his elder brother Dave and his son Will and Richard by his son Sam.
