TUAFC recently visited Torquay Fire Station to gift a number of selection boxes to local firefighters.
United’s Disability Liaison Officer Jo Harris was on hand to present Brett, a member of Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service at Torquay Fire Station with boxes of festive treats for all of the staff to enjoy, as a thank you for all of the hard work the service does throughout the year.
Torquay Fire Station is one of 83 fire stations based throughout Devon and Somerset, and is amongst the ten stations that are staffed by wholetime (firefighters based at the station) and on-call (respond to the station upon being paged) crew. The service has the largest number of on-call stations in England.
Each year on average Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service attends 15,700 incidents, whilst also providing home safety advice to over 18,000 households. The service attends incidents and provides safety advice on a variety of emergencies as well as fires, including road traffic collisions and flooding.
