Torquay United AFC would like to place on record its thanks to all supporters who attempted to purchase tickets for the Club’s National League Promotion Final against Hartlepool United at Ashton Gate on Sunday (20/06/21 2pm KO).
Although a huge demand for tickets was always expected, 790,000 hits on our ticketing website, and over 35,000 phone calls to our offices between 10am and Midday on Wednesday were unprecedented figures, resulting in issues with other telephone exchanges, and both our website and phonelines becoming inaccessible for a short period.
The Club would like to apologise for any inconvenience caused, and these numbers only serve to further illustrate the commitment and passion of our Club’s devoted fanbase. Needless to say, our severely limited ticketing allocation was never likely to last long, especially in the face of such huge demand, with the match being sold out within hours of going on general sale.
We would like to thank our fans for their patience and understanding during this period – particularly those who were unable to obtain a ticket for this fixture. We would ask you to bear with us during this busy period, and all outstanding queries will be responded to in due course. The whole Yellow Army can be assured that Gary Johnson, his staff, and all the players will be doing everything possible on Sunday afternoon to secure a return to the Football League, and ensure you are all very much part of the party next season!
Torquay United is aware of a number of rival supporters claiming to have purchased tickets from within our own allocation. The Club is looking into these claims, and where necessary, these orders will be refunded, with the tickets then being reallocated to our own fantastic supporters.
Once again, we thank all of the Yellow Army for your unwavering support during the past nine months, as we now begin to look ahead to a pivotal day in our Club’s long and proud history.
