United defender Ollie Tomlinson has joined National League South side Taunton Town on loan.
Having signed for the Club last summer, former Plymouth Argyle and Truro City man Tomlinson has gone on to make nine appearances for The Gulls this term, however with manager Gary Johnson adding Nico Lawrence and Jacob Mensah to his roster recently, the opportunity for Ollie to gain further senior experience with Taunton is seen as another important step forward in the young defender’s development.
“Ollie has been very patient,” said Johnson.
“He’s not been able to push himself into the first-team team regularly enough, and so we felt the best course of action would be to find some games for him, so that he can put into practice the tremendous amount of work he’s done with us.
“Taunton asked us if he might be available, and we thought it was a good idea, as at the moment we have more centre-halves.
“Ollie’s got tremendous potential, and this is just another part of his development.”
This move is subject to National League approval.
