The TUFC pre-season calendar moves swiftly on to an away trip to Ladysmead tonight for player-manager Kevin Nicholson and his men.
United are fresh from Wednesday’s 2-0 win over Bristol City. Two goals from trialist James Gray earned United the win on the night. It will be interesting to see whether the Gaffer springs more surprises in personnel at Ladysmead.
This is a fixture that the Nicholson has been looking forward to.
“I’ve always liked visiting Tiverton in pre-season” said Nicholson . “They provide a more realistic opposition compared to teams much higher up in the football pyramid. They are a physical and determined team which will be determined to win. “
Tiverton have signed ex-United goalkeeper, Martin Rice recently. The Gaffer is also looking forward to meeting up with his ex-teammate, who made over 80 appearances for United.
“They have signed some players that will be familiar to our fans. It will be great to watch former TUFC ‘keeper, Martin Rice play against us. He was a part of a very successful United squad under manager Paul Buckle. He’s a good guy who worked very hard while he was at United, and it’s good to see him back playing.
“I’m expecting a tough examination, and it’s another chance for us to take a step forward in our preparations and a chance to improve again.”
