With Rowcroft Hospice celebrating its 40th anniversary this year, Torquay United AFC is delighted to lend its support to Chris Coward’s ‘Jail or Bail’ fundraising efforts.
Coward, Managing Director of United Club Partner, Torbay Weekly, has joined up with five other high-profile members of the Torbay Community to face fictitious trials today, Wednesday 23rd February, to raise vital funds for the hospice.
In the light-hearted fundraising initiative, the local ‘convicts’ have been placed under ‘arrest’, accused by their colleagues of various workplace crimes, with Chris being accused of spending too much time on the telephone.
Punishments lined up will include ‘yard time’ where they will spend the day at the hospice helping out in various ways such as cleaning, gardening, and maintenance, until their friends, family and colleagues bail them out of jail by donating money to the hospice.
The convicts have until 5pm today, Wednesday 23rd February, to fundraise their way to freedom using their mobile phones and social media channels.
All of the funds raised by the jail breakers will help Rowcroft Hospice support local people living with life-limiting illnesses in South Devon.

In addition to lending its support to this fantastic initiative, TUAFC has also launched its own fundraising drive, with funds raised via our online raffle directly benefitting Rowcroft Hospice.
Running until 11th March, supporters purchasing a £2 ticket will not only be helping to raise funds to support Rowcroft’s amazing work, but they also stand a chance of winning a 2021/22 home shirt signed by Gary Johnson’s first team squad! To purchase a ticket, please click HERE.
