Torquay United AFC is backing supporter Pete Sincock, who is embarking on an 800-mile bike ride to raise funds and awareness of two organisations close to his heart.

After attending United’s final pre-season friendly against Southampton B on Saturday, Pete departed Torquay headed for Bristol, before moving on to Tottenham, with his mammoth bike ride taking in as many football grounds as possible enroute to Amsterdam.

After taking in Dutch giants Ajax’s opening game of the season on August 12th, Pete will then return to the UK and complete his journey by cycling up to YESTribe’s Big Sky Hideaway Campsite in Lincolnshire.

Pete explained the reason behind his astonishing fundraising effort.

“I have suffered from mental health issues for almost as long as I can remember, and the last 6 months has been some of the hardest time I have ever been through. During these dark days I attended Andy’s Man Club (AMC). Not feeling completely alone and isolated, and able to talk about it all, really helped me stay alive. The groups are free to any man over 18 and are open every Monday 7pm (except Bank Holidays).

“Now this is where Yestival 2023 comes in. It’s ran by The YesTribe, which is a community that grew out of the idea of saying yes more. It started in June 2015 with nineteen strangers responding to a Facebook invite to go camping just outside of London. If I had to define the YesTribe, it would be a collection of people who promote positive wellbeing and thought processes, challenging people to embrace life at its fullest, be brave, and back themselves to achieve more. Yestival is the yearly gathering from all around the country.

“At this 3 day-long event, there was amazing, inspirational people that during that time opened my eyes and made me want to dream again.”
