Torquay United AFC is delighted to announce that the Club has achieved its fundraising target for Torbay Hospital’s Louisa Cary Children’s Ward, and would like to thank everyone that has supported this cause.

With a new monitor to measure a child’s carbon dioxide levels identified as a priority by the ward, Torquay United AFC called upon everyone connected with the Club – Players, staff and, of course, the Yellow Army, to join us in making this possibility become a reality, by helping the Club to raise the funds required to make this purchase via a number of ventures throughout the course of the past few months.

With proceeds from December’s FA Cup Shirt and February’s Signed Football raffles all being donated towards this very special project, the purchase of this vital monitor will now directly benefit child patients on the ward, and follows on previous initiatives that the Club has been proud to work with Torbay Hospital on in the past, including our Online Advent Calendar and Christmas visits by United players.

The Louisa Cary Ward is the Children’s Ward at Torbay Hospital and cares for a number of children aged between 0-18 with any medical, surgical or psychological conditions requiring inpatient care.

TUAFC Supporters Liaison Officer, Dominic Mee, paid tribute to the combined efforts of the whole Torquay United family for making this ambitious challenge become a reality;

“As soon as the Hospital made it clear to us how important this piece of equipment was, the Club was determined to help, and therefore we’re delighted at what we’ve managed to achieve by working together.

“Once again, the Club would like to say a big thank you to all of the Yellow Army for supporting us with this fundraising effort. I think everyone involved should be very proud.”
