Torquay United U13’s started off the New Year with a hard-fought away victory, as they saw off Yeovil 4-1 in difficult playing conditions.

Torquay playing up the slope against some heavy rain, found themselves one nil down after 30 mins, following a Yeovil counterattack, but  equalised right half time when Harrison Discombe came in at the back post to slot home a Thomas Ross cross, following good work down the right from Oscar Mills.

On 50 mins Torquay scored the goal of the game, through counter attacking and quick passing. United defender Jamie Mitchell cleared away from the area from a Yeovil attack and passed the ball to Ben Dyke, who in turn passed to Will Glanfield, and moving the ball wide right to Ross, he waited for the overlapping run of Ethan Lopeman, who then beat the defender to put in a cross, which was met by the advancing Glanfield to head pass the Yeovil keeper to put the Gulls 2-1 up.  Riley Calland on his return from a four month injury headed Torquay’s third, and with ten minutes to go, the scoring was complete when Glanfield scored his second of the game direct from a corner to complete the 4-1 victory.
