This Friday will see the Young Gulls in action against Bishops Cleeve U18s in the Third Qualifying Round of the F.A Youth Cup.
After a blistering start to their league & cup campaigns, the Torquay United U18s will be looking to progress in the F.A Youth Cup as they take on Bishops Cleeve U18s in the Third Qualifying Round, with a place in the First Round Proper up for grabs for the winner.
Head of Youth Robbie Herrera gave his thoughts on the F.A Youth Cup & the game ahead of the match on Friday night:
“This F.A Cup Youth game is one that we have been looking forward to, and another competition that we would like to progress in as far as possible. We have had some good times and some good games during my time previously here with the youth, where we had away games at Arsenal, Manchester United & West Bromwich Albion, so there is always a possibility of picking up one of these teams as the rounds progress.”
“Some of the players may never get to play in an F.A Cup competition again, so the lads are really looking forward to it, and after having a nice run last season to the First Round Proper they will will be looking to at least emulate that or go further, so they are all up for the game and looking forward to getting on the pitch and showcasing their talents.”
“It would be great to build an atmosphere for the team on Friday night, and we look forward to seeing the Yellow Army there at Buckland to cheer us onto victory and progression in the competition.”
One of last seasons youth team that reached that First Round Proper game against Newport County was Sam Bishop, and he shared his excitement ahead of the game:
“We are one game away from reaching the same stage of the competition as we did last season, and after being involved in that game i want to go even further this season and go as far as we can in it.”
The game will take place this Friday 14th October at Buckland Athletic’s ground in Homers Heath, Kingskerswell Road, Newton Abbot, TQ12 1DG with the game kicking off at 7:30pm. Gates open at 6pm and entrance is £5 for adults with free entry for children Under 16, although children Under 14 must be accompanied by an adult.
