With our home game v Southend designated as our ‘Unite For Access Fixture’ fixture, TUAFC is delighted to announce the appointment of our two Matchday Accessibility Ambassadors.

Rhys Morgan-Vale and Sam Balsdon will be very familiar faces with the Yellow Army, having both passionate supporters of the Club for many years, and this Saturday’s clash with Southend will be the first opportunity for our two new Accessibility Ambassadors to greet supporters to Plainmoor in their new roles.

TUAFC’s Accessibility Ambassadors will be the primary contact on matchdays for supporters with any additional requirements, with both Rhys and Sam on hand to assist with any queries supporters may have, and thereby ensuring that all supporters a treated to an enjoyable and comfortable at the stadium.

As a Club that prides itself on being an inclusive environment for all supporters, the introduction of Accessibility Ambassadors to Torquay United AFC is the latest in a long line of initiatives that have been introduced with the aim of ensuring that Plainmoor remains an accessible and welcoming stadium for all who attend.

Disability Liaison Officer Jo Harris is delighted that two Torquay United stalwarts will now be playing such an active and prominent role inside the stadium.

“I think this is a wonderful idea, and I can’t think of two better Ambassadors to fill the roles,” said Jo.

“Anyone that regularly attends matches at Plainmoor will instantly recognise both Rhys and Sam, and it’s fantastic they will now be sharing their passion for the Club by assisting their fellow fans on matchdays.

“It’s another example of Torquay United being at the very centre of the local community, and it follows on nicely from some of our other recent initiatives, like the VIP packages for local children, which was kindly sponsored by the Torquay United Supporters Trust, as well as free tickets for Foster carers, both of which have proved very successful.”

Any supporters with any queries regarding matches at Plainmoor can contact Jo directly by emailing [email protected].

About Level Playing Field’s United For Access Campaign.

Level Playing Field is a registered charity in England and Wales, and acts as a campaigning and advisory organisation to its membership and other parties across all sports. Level Playing Field (LPF) believes that being a disabled person is a social issue and that an individual only becomes disabled because of the social, attitudinal and environmental barriers that the individual faces (this is known as the social model of disability).

Unite For Access will kick off on Saturday 26 February 2023 and will focus on raising awareness and driving equality for a more inclusive match day experience for disabled sports fans until Sunday 12 March 2023.
