With Foster Care Fortnight 2024 set to be Torbay’s biggest yet, Torquay United is once again pleased to help play its part in highlighting this worthy cause.

With  Foster Care Fortnight taking place from the 13th to 26th May 2024, the theme for this year’s two week campaign is #FosteringMoments – celebrating the moments that define fostering journeys, along with the moments that build confidence, making young people feel safe, whilst also creating memories.

This year’s Foster Care Fortnight will be Torbay’s biggest and best to date, with the local Fostering team hosting a number of Fostering events across the local area, including being present every day at the Devon County Show in Exeter.

Torquay United’s partnership with Torbay Children’s Services began in November 2021, and has helped highlight the need for new foster carers within the local community, whilst also promoting the positive impact fostering families can provide to local cared-for children who are unable to live with their birth families.

Over the past three seasons, the link-up has seen free tickets being made available for foster families throughout Torbay, and has helped to create many memorable moments along the way.

Charitable Giving Coordinator, Jo Harris, reflected on the positive impact the partnership has had on the local fostering community.

“It’s been great to have been a part of this partnership since it began nearly three years ago,” said Jo.

“It’s been fantastic seeing so many families coming together and enjoying themselves here at Plainmoor, and it just goes to further promote the positive impact fostering can have in our local community.”
