A new era for United’s Under-18s began in perfect fashion, as Ryan Dickson’s side triumphed 3-1 at Bridgwater on Saturday morning.

A 25th minute Callum Thomas’ header – from a Isaac McCue corner – got the young Gulls off to a flyer, before a brace of assists from Ben Aldous saw debutant Liam Poole and Jayden Gilbert give Torquay a healthy advantage.

A late consolation from the home side, following a defensive misunderstanding, failed to damped Dickson’s mood after the game.

“It was a great first win against one of the league’s strongest sides, and a good learning experience for the young Gulls, to understand the mental aspect of football – to prepare to travel away, and perform against a good side.”
