Ahead of their FA Youth Cup tie with Bovey Tracey on Thursday evening, United’s Under-18s continued their fine start to the season with a 3-1 win at Hamworthy.

Having taken a first-half lead through Charlie Wills’ neat header, some hesitant defending eventually allowed the hosts to restore parity, with the scoreline remaining level at the break.

The second-half saw an improved performance by United secure all three points though, With an Ethan O’Sullivan volley and Andrew Ellis’ headed effort the least Torquay deserved for a largely one-way second 45 minutes.

Such a confident showing couldn’t have been better timed either, as the Young Gulls head to Bovey Tracey for a eagerly-anticipated FA Youth Cup 1st Round Qualifying ‘Devon Derby’ this Thursday, 21st September.

With Torquay having made it all the way through to the 1st Round Proper during the past two seasons, the Yellow Army will be warmly invited to cheer on the lads at Bovey’s Mill Marsh Park ground, with the match kicking off at 7pm.
