United’s Under-18s received their first – but perhaps not their last – reward for a superb season this morning, as they were crowned South West Counties Youth League champions.
With Chris Todd’s side having already scaled new heights by leading the way in the league, reaching the first round proper of the FA Youth Cup, as well as having two cup finals to look forward to before the season is out, it was only fitting that a stunning 8-0 win over New College Swindon at South Devon College on Saturday saw the Young Gulls claim the South West Counties Youth League silverware, for the first time in the Club’s history.
In what has become a regular occurrence in recent weeks, goals from Theo Cadby (4), Jayden Gilbert (2), Sam Bishop and Sammy Stayt did the damage, with New College Swindon offering little resistance against a rampant Torquay team.
The Yellow Army will have the perfect opportunity to salute our stars of the future at this afternoon’s match against Weymouth (26/03/22 3pm KO), as the squad show off their newly-acquired silverware at Plainmoor during half-time.
Congratulations lads, from all at Torquay United AFC!
