Torquay United U18s continued their impressive start to the season, as they played out a 2-2 draw in their top-of-the-table clash with Bridgwater.
Having held a 100% winning record going into the match, this time it was the Young Gulls’ fighting spirit that came to the fore, as Kevin Wills’ side battled back from a half-time deficit and claw their way back into proceedings.
Tom Chastey, who recently made his first-team debut at Frome, put the disappointment of a first-half penalty miss behind him to deservedly regain parity for his side in the second period with a cool finish.
Kai Swann – another who made his senior bow in Somerset – then turned the match on its head with a trademark free-kick, before a late leveller from a Bridgwater corner eventually saw the points shared.
“A draw was probably a fair result overall,” said Under-18s Head Coach Wills following the match.
With the squad now taking a well-earned break over the festive period, Torquay’s next match will be at home to Mangotsfield on Saturday 6th January at South Devon College (10.30am KO)
