Following a season that saw United’s U18s claim a notable league and cup double, three players from the successful group received individual recognition for their efforts.

Receiving Ryan Dickson’s ‘Manager’s Player of the Season’ was Sam Bishop (above), whilst Harvey Field was recognised as the side’s ‘Development Player of the Season’).

Meanwhile, Ben Aldous (below) received two awards – ‘Player’s Player of the Season’ and ‘Top Goalscorer’.

Under-18s boss Dickson paid tribute to the talented trio after the they received their awards at Plainmoor.

“It was a hard decision to choose anybody, as they’ve all had successful seasons, but Ben’s got the Player’s Player award after the season he’s had, scoring the goals he’s had and being the league’s top scorer ever this year. It was well deserved for him, and when he wasn’t involved, or he wasn’t playing, we really missed him.

“Sam was an easy one for Manager’s Player personally because for Torquay he’s turned up for every game, given his all, and he’s been at the Club since he was 9 years old. You can really see that passion and commitment for the Club in every performance. He’s been our playmaker, and his energy and enthusiasm really drove us on all season. He’s been available for every game, and that’s a credit to him.

“Every player wants a Harvey Field. In the big games, he turns up with goals, and on the big occasions he performs. He’s Mr. Reliable and is a model player that you would want – behaviour, attitude – the key values that you want to instil in a player, Harvey is one of them that breeds that, and his parents can be very proud of him. He’s been Mr. Consistent, and given 100% commitment throughout the season.”
