Gary Johnson’s side will be looking to give the Yellow Army some added festive cheer against Yeovil Town, as The Glovers make a third successive Boxing Day trip to Plainmoor.
Having emerged clear winners over the past two seasons, The Gulls will be hoping to give their supporters more moments to savour this time around, and secure a notable hat-trick against Johnson’s former side.
In the meantime, let’s take a look back at how the last two corresponding fixtures played out…
United 6
(Little 5′, Wright 9′, Lee o.g. 21′, Nemane 36′, Lemonheigh-Evans 53′, Cameron 83′)
Yeovil 1
(Skendi 49′)
It was a case of six of the best for Torquay United in 2020, as they put Yeovil Town to the sword following a superb 6-1 victory at Plainmoor.
4-0 up at the halfway point after goals from Armani Little, Danny Wright, a Charlie Lee o.g. and Aaron Nemane, Abdi Skendi’s early second-half effort for Town was soon overshadowed, after Connor Lemonheigh-Evans and Kyle Cameron added further goals to make it 6-1.
United 3
(Wynter 66′, Sparkes 70′, Lewis 86′)
Yeovil Town 0
United put an end to Yeovil Town’s unbeaten run and extended their own winning sequence by condemning their Westcountry rivals to a 3-0 defeat at Plainmoor in 2021.
After a decidedly nick & tuck first half, the match turned on Sonny Blu Lo-Everton’s straight red card for an off-the-ball incident midway through the second period. Seizing the initiative, two goals in four minutes from Ben Wynter and Jack Sparkes saw the men in black & white stripes take control of proceedings, with Joe Lewis applying further gloss with his side’s third four minutes from time.
