Jamie Reid has been in red hot form in front of goal recently. His last goal came on Saturday against Wealdstone, and he was close to finding the net once again on Tuesday night. Instead United had to settle for a 2-2 draw against Weston-super-Mare.

“I thought we weren’t at the races in the first,” said Reid. “I didn’t think we played with the same intensity as we have done in previous matches.”

Reid came really close to putting United 2-1 up in the 53rd minute when he shot from around 25-yards out. The ball hit the underside of the bar and bounced down and out.

“I didn’t think I was as dangerous as I have been in previous matches, so I thought I would get it down and get a yard and try and get a shot away. If that goes in, then I think it’s a different story. We didn’t test the goalkeeper enough in the match.”

The players are still getting over the atmosphere created by the fans at Tuesday night’s match but must look ahead to Saturday’s 3pm kick-off at Plainmoor against Billericay.

“The ground was bouncing and to take those sorts of numbers to an away game on a Tuesday night in the National League South is fantastic. The boys enjoyed the atmosphere but as the Gaffer said, we let them down by only getting a point.

“Looking towards Saturday, we’ll try and put it right and put in a good performance.”
