Whilst five members of United’s Under-18s were on first-team duty in Frome, the rest of Kevin Wills’ exciting side were busy chalking up their eighth win at Fairford Town.

With Wills’ team bolstered by members of The Gulls’ U16s, the strength of Plainmoor’s ‘Player Pathway’ was once again on full view, as the Young Gulls made the most of a rare slip-up from leaders Bridgwater to reduce the Somerset side’s lead at the top of the table to just six points – with three games in hand.

Things got off to a difficult start, as an early Alec Gawthropp strike saw United fall a goal behind.

Not for the first time this season though, Torquay’s young side showed fighting spirit in abundance, and deservedly got back on level terms through Ashton Ballard.

In the circumstances, a draw would’ve been a decent result in itself, however Wills’ squad continued in search of a winner, and duly found in in the last minute, with Gene Price sparking jubilant scenes from all in the travelling camp, and stretch the defending champions’ 100% winning record even further.

Well done, lads!
