Having returned to Plainmoor as United’s Under-18 manager last summer, Kevin Wills is looking forward to an exciting second half to the 2023/24 campaign.

“Firstly I’m really enjoying the role and it’s been good to see the players developing,” said Wills.

“It has been fantastic to see several of the Under-18s in the first team squad, and the trust the Gaffer and Downesy have put in the players.”

With  U18 starlets Charlie Wills, Harvey Coggins, Kai Swann, Jacob Wellington and Tom Chastey all called up to the first-team squad for the FA Trophy trip to Frome, that presented further opportunities for The Gulls’ most promising Under-16 players to step up, and in turn provide further proof of Plainmoor’s player pathway in action.

In addition to that, the Young Gulls have continued to achieve superb results on the pitch, with another strong showing in the FA Youth Cup running alongside an unbeaten start to the South West Youth Counties League season.

All the ingredients are there for an exciting 2024, with Kevin quick to acknowledge the support of those around him.

“I would like to thank Robbie [Herrera, Head of Youth], ‘Bish’ [Paul Bishop, U18 Assistant Manager] and Bess [Ashworth, Youth Physio] for their continued support.

“Results-wise, we are competing in the league and still the League Cup. It has been pleasing that a number of the Under-16s have been part of the squad, and that is testament to the role Jordan Thomas is doing.

“The lads have been very committed and continue to work hard.”
