United’s U18s found themselves on the wrong end of a slim 1-0 defeat away at Bath City U18s on Saturday.

In a game played at Bath City’s first team ground of Twerton Park, United’s youngsters played some really good stuff and really impressed, with ten U16s in the squad bringing a really high technical performance, with controlled possession for large parts of the game. The boys created a number of chances, but without really showing the cutting edge needed to get their noses in front, and it was only by losing possession on the edge of the box that led to Bath scoring the opening and decisive goal that would eventually be enough to see them take all three points.

All in all it was a really encouraging performance, making the future look bright for the youth team next season, with the introduction of some of the U16 team coming into the U18 squad, meaning there is a high technical group coming through the ranks as they see out the remainder of the league season, and still with that Cup Final against Mangotsfield to come on Saturday 13th May giving them the chance to end the season with some silverware.
