There were contrasting fortunes for the two age groups involved in JPL action this weekend.
Our Under 13s secured a marvellous 3-1 win in their Shield clash at home to RTC Wiltshire.
Wiltshire began the stronger of the two sides, and struck first after a shot from distance beat Will Hughes in the Torquay goal. United responded well though, and following a good spell of possession, Torquay grabbed an equaliser. Henry Munyago finished smartly past the keeper, following neat work from Regan Lashenko. Just before the interval, United took the lead in style, with Liam Poole firing in a tremendous free kick from 25 yards.
The second half saw the Gulls soaking up some pressure, with substitute keeper Lewis Vinson called into action on a number of occasions. United’s keeper responded well though, and following an excellent run from Munyago, Harry Rendle sealed the victory for Torquay.
Our Under 15s meanwhile, went down 4-2 away to Wells City FC in their League Cup tie, with all four of the Somerset side’s goals coming after the interval.
