Youth prospect Olaf Koszela played his first minutes in a Torquay United shirt on Saturday. The young forward has been training with the first team this week, and the 16-year-old showed enough to earn a place on the bench against Poole Town.
“We got young Olaf on at the end, which was a big plus for us,” said TUFC head coach Gary Owers after United’s 4-0 win.
Koszela has been was in lethal form during his spell in the U16s, and will join Torquay Academy’s Football Development Programme in partnership with TUFC.
“To be fair to him, I haven’t seen that much of him. I went to watch him train a couple of times at the Academy last season. He’s turned up this week and the lads have taken to him a little bit, and that’s always a good sign. That’s because they can see that he has a little bit of talent.”
