A week on from earning their first England C caps against Wales, United stars Armani Little and Ben Wynter gave their reflections on the experience.

“It was a really good experience,” began vice-captain Armani.

“Obviously when you go away to represent your country at any level, it’s an honour. It was a really proud moment to be fair.

“It’s the experience of being away with different players, meeting new people, and actually going out on the pitch before the game, you just have to take it all in. Despite the result, looking back on the whole week, from training, again, it was very enjoyable.

“Obviously when you’re going to a new place where you don’t know anyone, it’s difficult, but having Wynts there with me was nice. I was happy for him getting the call up, he deserved it, and it’s always nice knowing someone there, and sharing that moment with him.”

Although the result didn’t go the way of the Three Lions, with their Welsh counterparts running out 4-0 winners, Ben also looked back fondly on the experience with his Gulls teammate.

“It was a real honour to represent my country, and an experience I enjoyed – one that will stay with me forever.

“The result was obviously not what we wanted, but despite how it was going I still tried to enjoy every moment of the game, and trip overall, because I know those opportunities don’t come around to everyone, and very often. The highlight would definitely be starting the game and receiving my cap.

“I was buzzing for Marns when he got called up, because he deserved it. It was nice to go away with him and share the experience together. The fact we both started the game made it even better.”

With their international trip over, Little and Wynter will now – along with the rest of the United squad – be setting their sights on this weekend’s vital home clash with Notts County, in a match that could prove pivotal to The Gulls’ play-off aspirations.

Well done, lads!
