Dan Martin caught up with TUAFC club media to discuss his time at United so far, and current form, before previewing Saturday’s visit of Wrexham and the remainder of the campaign.

After a testing start to his United career Dan’s excellent recent form has seen him become a regular in Gary Johnson’s starting line up, and he will be looking to continue that form against Wrexham at Plainmoor on Saturday.

” I think personally I’ve shown a little bit of character in myself to try and pull myself out of that. The Gaffer has shown faith in me by putting me back in the team so I’m really enjoying my run of form and helping the team out as much as I can.

“The team spirit is good and I think that every time you lose you will be disappointed, but we’ve got to keep picking up the points in the games, especially against the teams above us to try and reel our way back in so that we’ve got a chance of getting in the play-offs at the end of the season.”

Martin feels that his development under the guidance of Gary Johnson and Aaron Downes has really helped him and that he has learned a lot about himself during this time.

“It has really helped me and given me an insight into what realistic men’s football is about and what you need to do to be successful in the game. It’s not always pretty and that’s the part I’ve learnt here and that you have to do the nitty gritty to go and get results and better yourself.

“They have both shown good guidance and I’d like to think that is showing now. I’ve confirmed to myself that I have the character to bounce back from situations like the red card [Vs Havant(A)], which was a rush of blood but a valuable lesson, and I’d like to think other people can see that now as well.”

The 22 year old left-back is now focused and ready for the challenge of Wrexham on Saturday and also for the rest of the season as we enter the business end of the campaign.

“We always go in with one mindset every game and that’s to win the game, that is what we are set up to do and what we are looking to do on Saturday. The rest of the season is exactly the same, win as many games as possible and pick up as many points as we can to hopefully creep into those play-off positions and have a successful end to the season. Personally I want to keep this run of form going and the play-offs is on my agenda, and I think that every player in this club would like to do that as well, so for me and the team the play-offs is the goal.”
