United’s Under-18s came up with the perfect response to their midweek cup exit, as they secured a comprehensive 6-0 win away at New College Swindon on Saturday.

Having pushed EFL side Newport County all the way in the FA Youth Cup on Wednesday before eventually going down to a 4-3 defeat, there was absolutely no sign of a hangover in Wiltshire as goals from Jayden Gilbert (2), Theo Cadby, Lewis Brooks, Ben Aldous and Farren Simons saw Chris Todd’s side take all three points.

It was a particularly memorable occasion for Simons, who was named as Man of the Match following his goalscoring debut for the side, after stepping up from the Under-16s for the first time.

The result – combined with scorelines elsewhere – saw Torquay move three places up the South West Counties Youth League to 3rd place, whilst cutting the gap to leaders Swindon Supermarine to just two points, with a game in hand.
