Torquay United AFC is delighted to announce the loan signing of highly-rated Exeter City defender Jack Sparkes.

Having made his first-team debut for City back in 2017, Jack has remained a regular member of the squad over the past four years, clocking up nearly 100 appearances for The Grecians.

With injury having restricted his opportunities so far this term, his return to fitness represented the perfect opportunity for Sparks to make the switch to Plainmoor.

“Jack Sparkes is going to join us initially for a month,” said Gulls boss Gary Johnson.

“It’s a good coup, he lives in Newton Abbot, so he can roll out of bed and get to our training ground!

“We like him a lot, he’s a left-winger, a left-back or a left wing-back. He’s got great quality and he’s a good athlete. He hurt his shoulder a few months ago but since then, he’s back and is playing. He’s been on the bench a few times since then and had seven or eight reserve games that they’ve played.

“He’s a good player, and you wouldn’t have got someone like him under any other circumstances. He wants to play, Exeter are going well, they’ve got their shape and he’s been out of that for little while, and he’ll be double-keen to get going.”
