Boss Gary Johnson reflected on a vital three points for his side, as Sam Sherring’s late, late, winner saw United seal a rare win at Wrexham.

“I’m a little bit torn – I’m delighted with the three points, but we didn’t play well,” began Johnson.

“Our organisation as a defending group kept us in the game, because they didn’t have many opportunities, but we certainly didn’t create too many opportunities either. It’s a little bit of one we got away with, I didn’t think Wrexham were any better than us necessarily, but I’d just like to see my team perform a little better than that, as we are coming into the business end of the season.

“We’ve had a good little chat. At the end of the day, I’ll talk to them individually because we just simply gave the ball away too much, but thank God when it mattered, Shez has gone up there and smashed a good volley in.

“I think that was one of our only opportunities, but then, as I say, Wrexham didn’t have any opportunities either, not many at all.

“I’ll get over it – I’ll be over it by the morning. When I see the league table, and when I saw the other results, it’s not been a bad day stats-wise, as far as the league table is concerned, but we’ve got a bit of work to do to bring out the best in more of our players.”
