Following a similar trend to last weekend, three out of five of our JPL matches ended in victory for the Young Gulls.
The U12s continued their winning form with Saturday’s match marking the Young Gulls third consecutive win. Two first-half goals from Archie Law and Oscar Mills, followed by one from Mikolaj Piasecki in the 72nd minute saw the U12s win 3-1 against Saints Southwest Devon. The U12s side previously won 9-2 last weekend and prior to that had won their previous game 8-3.
Our U13s will be looking to bounce back this weekend following a heavy defeat against match Saints Southwest Somerset last Saturday. The match began well enough for the Torquay youngsters though, with plenty of fast, end-to-end football being played early on, as both United and Saints Southwest Somerset created chances. However after 20 minutes, the pattern of the game changed, with Saints who taking control and ran out clear winners.
The U14s made it three consecutive wins with a 5-1 victory over Saints Southwest Somerset, following on from their 5-2 victory against Taunton Youth FC Community Trust the previous week. Lucas Robinson opened the scoring for United inside ten minutes, with his shot from distance deflecting in off the underside of the crossbar, however, Saints equalised five minutes later. United were not deterred and went on to score three goals in quick succession. Toby Hard scored from distance in the 21st minute before two minutes later Harvey Roche netted twice in two minutes to put the Young Gulls 4-1 up. Hard scored his second in the 79th minute to secure the side’s 5-1 victory.
Meanwhile the U15 age group were overcome 5-2 away at Mid Somerset RTC. The Young Gulls took the lead in the 10th minute through Adam Reda Khalaf before the home side equalised just before the break. Two goals in two minutes for Mid Somerset saw the side lead 3-1 with just over 30 minutes to go. Reda Khalaf scored again in the 65th minute to make it 3-2, but it was the home side who came out on top with goals in the 70th and 76th minutes securing a 5-2 victory.
It was goals-galore for the U16 side who won 7-5 away at South Dartmoor Community College. Farren Simons was United’s hattrick hero, with Leo Barraball, Kai Swann, Aaron Dodd, and Nathan Lee also firing themselves onto the scoresheet.
