There were plenty of happy faces at Torquay United last night, as families from across the local community attended the club’s free Kids Christmas Party at Plainmoor.

Despite the wet weather, over 100 children attended this free special event and made the most of the opportunity to go behind the scenes at Plainmoor, with a tour around the ground and changing rooms, the chance to chat with United staff members, as well the opportunity to have pictures taken with the National League South trophy!

Father Christmas took time out of his busy schedule to provide gifts from his Grotto, before the children finished the memorable occasion with yet another highlight – a chance to meet United manager Gary Johnson himself, along with his assistant Aaron Downes and members of The Gulls’ first-team squad.

The whole event was played out with plenty of festive music and seasonal cheer, with parents also given the chance to enjoy snacks and drinks in our No.10s restaurant, whilst the youngsters met their heroes. One comment from a startstruck Lucas Mitchell was particularly heartwarming.

Is this really happening? I feel like I’m dreaming!

We would like to thank everyone that contributed to making last night’s event such a success, and also those that contributed towards the collection, which held in in aid of Torbay Hospital’s Louisa Carey Ward, and also the Special Care Baby Unit.

Merry Christmas everyone from all at Torquay United!
