I.A.W Accountancy Services are leading the way – personally

Whilst our Match Sponsors for Saturday’s home match against Wrexham will already be familiar to many Gulls fans due to their recent support of the club, for Gary Webb, the link between IAW Accountancy and Torquay United AFC, goes back even further.

As a promising young footballer in his own right in the late early 1990s, Gary was part of United’s youth set-up – leaving him with a number of fond memories, and a bond that has continued into his working life as a Partner at I.A.W. Accountancy Services.

“The reason behind me getting involved with Torquay United is because I played for the club as a 14/15 year old in the 1990s,” begins Webb.

“I loved the fact that we wore the same shirt year on year as those on first teamers on a Saturday and especially when we as a family went to Wembley and witnessed ‘that’ Gareth Howells penalty!”

As well as watching the men in yellow from the terraces, Gary also holds the distinction of enjoying some memorable moments out on the pitch, during what was an exciting time for the club, as he goes on to explain.

“It was during the time of Cyril Knowles and John Impey that I was at the club. One of my favourite memories was being a ball boy. We were playing Sheffield United in a friendly, and I was in the tunnel waiting to run out onto the pitch with the team. Suddenly I could hear this ball being bounced against the floor, that made me look behind – I looked up and it was none other than Vincent Peter Jones (aka, Vinnie Jones!!!)”

Our visitors on Saturday have recently been making national headlines following their own link-up with some of Tinsletown’s finest, and although Wrexham’s famous owners are not expected to be in attendance tomorrow, the Yellow Army certainly will be – much to everyone’s excitement .

“We love the fact that times are now beginning to return to some sort of normality and more than anything we love the fact that fans can return to stadiums and with your support I know the yellow army can only keep rising!”

With offices based in both Paignton and Brixham, I.A.W. Accountancy Services prides itself on being a friendly, family run business – although they are certainly not lacking in both local and international experience.

“We offer a fully comprehensive accountancy package, however small or large our client’s needs are.

“We are a family run business, formed in Brixham in 1981 by my father and senior partner Ian Webb, and have represented the bay and beyond for many years and hopefully beyond further! Being an active part of the Brixham business community for so many years, the fishing community means so much. We opened the second office in Paignton during 2018 and, the response has been immense, which we are so grateful for!

“To me though, it is more than just a business, more than just a job, we feel we are a family with our clients. We’re in an area where there so many amazing similar independent family run businesses and to have survived for 40 years, I guess we might have done one or two things right!

“Our services are vast and varied and as such we can support you and your business to fit your requirements. Our involvement depends on you, we can do as much, as or little as required. For example, one of our clients is a pharmaceutical business based in Milan, who are quoted on the Swiss Stock Exchange, for whom we run the full accountancy and banking function, which is quite a thrill, but we also look after those invaluable businesses – from builders to bakers to candles stick makers – so, whatever your needs are, we can adapt to them.”

“We are MORE than just accountants. We act as part of your team and the business and as such the value added is……up to you.”
